Relationship Between Work Environment and Job Performance of Administrative Staff in the Ilagan Northwest District, Division of the City of Ilagan

The effectiveness of administrative performance is strongly influenced by the quality of the work environment; however, its relationship with job performance among school administrative staff remains insufficiently examined. This study examined the relationship between work environment and job performance among Administrative Staff in the Ilagan Northwest District Division of the City of Ilagan. A descriptive-correlational research design was used, involving 127 respondents selected through total enumeration. Data were gathered using a validated researcher-made questionnaire and analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (r). Findings revealed that most respondents were mid-career, predominantly female, married, and holders of bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The work environment was generally perceived as positive, particularly in terms of leadership style, work conditions, and work relationships. Job performance was also rated high, indicating strong effectiveness in performing administrative tasks. Results showed that leadership style, compensation, and work conditions significantly correlate with job performance, while other factors had weaker relationships. Despite this, respondents reported challenges such as heavy workload, time pressure, and organizational demands. The study concludes that a positive work environment enhances job performance, with leadership and workplace conditions playing key roles. Improving workload management and compensation systems is recommended to further strengthen administrative efficiency and employee well-being.
